Male 48 (lived in Hungary – Turkey – Singapore – Azerbaijan)
On one move we didn’t take anything, and that was a mistake.
It took a long time for our house to become a home and it felt like living in a hotel.
After that we always took things with us books, artwork and our photo albums.
The photo albums contain our history; the albums are our story,
they document what we have done over time, how we have developed and the places we have been.
The children take what is important to them.
Our youngest child takes his soft toys, he sleeps with them at night and several of them have been gifts from good friends. Our elder child takes his pillow, phone, football boots and a ball, these are things he cannot do without and are important for getting new friends.
Female 66 (lived in Kenya – Lesotho – USA – Canada – Sweden – South Africa)
The belongings that meant something to me are now spread with the winds or in other people’s ownership.
Female 32 (moved to Norway)
I came to Norway as a refugee when I was 14 years old.
I could not take many objects with me. When you escape to another country you do not think about taking objects. it is not easy to take anything except what is absolutely necessary. However, one can take memories, even so as the years passed I was afraid to forget the good memories. We were lucky to be able to take a couple of pictures from our childhood with us. I appreciate them and often look at them to remember that time.

Our daily bread 2
The show raised questions of what we take with us when moving and how to create meeting places.
Sharing food and receipes is one strategy for making new friends.
Food is a basic need and every region has its staples.
When people have moved the foodstuff goes with them and is excahanged. Graintypes have also moved with migrations.
The piles in this video each represent an ingredient in a recipe for Spelt bread, 3 piles of flour, 1 of linseed, 1 of salt, 1 of yeast and 1 litre of water
